Baltimore, MD

Break A Difference (B•A•D) programs are offered in a variety of cities across the nation. Our Baltimore site tackles a multitude of causes including poverty, homelessness, and their environmental effects on the city. Volunteers will staff food pantry banks, upgrade transitional housing facilities, and help to maintain shelters while getting a better understanding on the problems affecting the city.  

At A Glance

Located just north of the Chesapeake Bay, Baltimore is the largest independent city in the country. In recent years, the city has been plagued by poverty and crime. 23.8% of the population lives below the poverty line, well above the national average of 14.8%. With crime at an all-time high, Baltimore saw 344 homicides in 2015.  


  • $395 per participant (personal fundraising websites available)
Cost includes the following:
  • 3 Meals per day
  • Housing (in Washington, DC)
  • Local transportation to and from service sites
  • Local transportation to and from local transportation hubs during arrival and departure
  • Team building and reflection activities
  • Opportunities to explore to nearby attractions (i.e. Baltimore City, Inner Harbor, Washington DC, etc.)

  NOTE: Each participant is responsible for for their own travel to and from ASB cities (i.e airplane, train, bus, car, etc.)
