For more than seven years, our team has worked with United Way to provide young adults & students with an opportunity to give back during their spring break. Since Alternative SPring Break’s inception in 2006, over 2,500 students have traded in their swim suits for tool belts and participated in Alternative Spring Break (ASB) in dozens of communities across the country.

In partnership with Break A DifferenceUnited Way is hosting ASB’s in five cities across the U.S. in March. We coordinate all of the on-the-ground logistics (housing, meals, travel, projects, etc), we just ask that each volunteer donates and/or fundraises $350. Don’t worry, we provide all of the online fundraising tools.

To volunteer any one week in March, please see ASB descriptions per city below with signup links:

Jersey Shore, NJ

Volunteers will rebuild homes destroyed by Hurricane Sandy. No construction skills are required, just a commitment to work hard to return families to their homes.  Some teams may work on addressing community issues that existed before the storm.
