Break A Difference coordinates Alternative Spring Break (ASB) programs in various cities across the United States. ASB is an immersive week of service program for young adults and students to serve communities by volunteering during their spring breaks. Break A Difference partners with United Way, Boys & Girls Clubs, and other local nonprofits to provide meaningful and impactful service projects. Break A Difference coordinates everything from meals and local transportation to service projects and housing which makes the ASB program extremely cost effective and meaningful to volunteers and those served.

 

2015 Dates
March 1 thru March 7
March 8 thru March 14
March 15 thru March 21
March 22 thru March 28
Dates vary per location, but most locations are available for all four weeks of March.

 

Cost is $395 per participant (personal fundraising websites available)

 

 

Cost includes the following:
• 3 Meals per day

        • Housing
        • Local transportation to and from service sites
        • Local transportation to and from local transportation hubs during arrival & departure
        • Project supplies
        • Team building & reflection activities
        • Excursions to nearby attractions
                                      NOTE: Each participant is responsible for their own travel to and from ASB cities (i.e. airplane, train, bus, driving, etc)

ASB-Baltimore-MD
Volunteers will work with agencies that promote family stability and access to healthy foods (ex. community kitchens, homeless shelters, schools, etc).
ASB-Washington-DC
Volunteers will lead enhanced educational activities at Boys & Girls Clubs, after-school programs and other organizations serving youth in Newark, NJ.
ASB-SF-Bay-Area-CA
Volunteers will lead enhanced educational activities at Boys & Girls Clubs, after-school programs and other organizations serving youth in the SF Bay Area, CA.
ASB-Newark-NJ
Volunteers will lead enhanced educational activities at Boys & Girls Clubs, after-school programs and other organizations serving youth in Newark, NJ.
ASB-Jersey-Shore-NJ
Volunteers will rebuild homes destroyed by Hurricane Sandy along the Jersey Shore in NJ (ex. sheet rock, paint, demolition, needs assessments, etc). No construction skills req’d.
ASB-NYC-NY
Volunteer projects are TBD. NYC is a diverse and highly populated city with many needs. Nonetheless, volunteers will make a positive impact & have fun exploring NYC.
